Miami Rebounds to Beat Texas and Clinch A Spot in Final Four

Miami was down in the first half and was able to rebound and beat Texas for their place in the NCAA Midwest Regional Final and advance to the Final Four for the first time in their Men’s basketball program’s history. Winning the game, 88-81, and will now face UConn for a chance at the national Championship.

The Hurricanes desperately needed the game to go their way for the second half to secure a win, and they caught a break with one minute left in the game. Nochad Omier went for an offensive rebound with Brock Cunningham, and ended with the Longhorns forward getting called for a foul.

Omeir then secured two free throws to get the Hurricanes up by two points, 81-79. Before poking the ball away on the other end of the court, making Longhorns guard Marcus Carr lose the ball. Miami recovered and Isaiah Wong ended up getting fouled before making two free throw attempts to get Miami up by four points. Ultimately, Jordan Miller led the way for Miami with 27 points, 7 for 7 from the field and 13 of 13 from the free throw line. Wooga Poplar ended up with 16 points and six rebounds, and Omier had 11 points and nine rebounds. Nigel Pack put up 15 points and Wong finished with 14 points.

Carr led Texas with his 17 points and six assists, but it wasn’t enough for the victory over Miami.

This will mark the first Final Four for Miami, and the second for coach Jim LarraƱaga. The games will happen on April first with San Diego State vs. Florida Atlantic and UConn vs. Miami. The national championship will be on April 3rd.
