Whitney Houston Earned Five New RIAA Certifications

Whitney Houston just had her 1985 self-titled debut album pass the 14 times multi-platinum mark for surpassing over 14 million equivalent units. Marking the album’s first new certification since July of 1999. Whitney Houston is Houston’s second best selling album behind 1992’s The Bodyguard soundtrack, that has reached 18x multi-platinum status in November of 2017. “Greatest Love Of All,” from the WHitney Houston album is also now certified 2x multi-platinum.

Whitney Houston also received new honors for her singles “So Emotional,” (platinum), “I’m Your Baby Tonight” (platinum), and “I Look to You” (platinum). On top of that, Houston scored a gold for “Do You Hear What I Hear,” a seasonal single from 2004. It was also featured in a 2019 compilation album, The Best of Pentatonix.

Whitney Houston’s 60th Birthday and career will be celebrated via a series of festivities called “Whitney Houston Hotel.” The week long event is going to be held from February first to fourth, during Grammy week, at the W Hotel in Hollywood, California. A press release stated that the event will include, “Sony’s 360 Reality Audio Immersive Listening Lounge, a memorabilia exhibit featuring photos of Whitney as well as several iconic gowns worn throughout her legendary career, a Whitney Houston pop-up shop with exclusive merch, electronics and more.”
