Stephen Stills Just Announced He Is Releasing ‘Stephen Stills Live at Berkeley 1971’

Stephen Stills has just made an announcement that he is releasing a new album dubbed, Stephen Stills Live at Berkeley 1971, that is set for release on April 28th. The album contains 14 previously unreleased songs that were recorded through two nights at the Berkeley Community theater in Berkeley, California, on August 20th and 21st, 1971.

During his first solo tour, Stills was backed by the Memphis Horns and performed a solo acoustic set as well as an electric one. He was also joined by David Crosby for two of the tracks, “You Don’t Have to Cry” and “The Lee Shore.”

Stills said in a press release, “The intimacy of the Berkeley Community Theater seemed to serve as a focal point between the audience and the energy surrounding the social climate of the day, It was my first tour as a solo artist and these shows were raucous and unrestrained, captured here in these recordings.”

Ultimately, Stephen Stills Live at Berkeley 1971 will be released via CD, LP, and digital formats, as well as a deluxe package that contains 8×10 pictures from photographer Henry Diltz, that were taken during the solo tour, alongside a limited edition self-portrait framed lithograph.
