Rihanna Performed ‘Lift Me Up’ at the 95th Oscars

At the 95th Oscars on Sunday night Rihanna performed her Oscar nominated track “Lift Me Up” from the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. She wore a black silk tulle embroidered top as well as dark silver brocade trousers. With her boyfriend, A$ap Rocky supporting her from the audience.

Rihanna co-wrote the song along with Tems, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson. Göransson also produced the track. The song was nominated for Best Original Song at the 95th Oscars and was a tribute song for the life and legacy of Chadwick Boseman who played the role of King T’Challa/Black Panther in the 2018 film and passed away in 2020.

Tems said of the track, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

Meanwhile, Rihanna has managed to collect multiple accolades from the RIAA. Which includes her recent one for “Needed Me,” a DJ Mustard produced track that is now 9x multi-platinum, selling over nine million equivalent units.
