Rihanna and Beyonce Amongst Early NAACP Image Awards Winners

Rihanna and Beyonce were amongst the first winners that were announced at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards. With both being recognized in non-televised categories on Monday, prior to the main awards show on Saturday, February 25th.

The news comes after both artists reached milestones earlier this month, with Beyonce making history at the 65th Grammy Awards, and Rihanna headlining the Super Bowl halftime show this year.

On Monday, Beyonce managed to take home three NAACP accolades for outstanding female artist, outstanding album, and outstanding Soul/ R&B track, for her song Cuff it.

While Rihanna at the NAACP Image Awards won outstanding music video/visual album for her track Lift me Up, which was written for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The track also earned her awards at other major awards shows including the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and a nomination for best original song at the Oscars.

The film also took over with nominations for the NAACP Image Awards when they were announced last month, with a total of 12 nominations.

The 54th annual NAACP Image Awards are set to occur on February 25th at 1am UK time in front of an audience for the first time in three years, due to the pandemic.
