Bono and The Edge of U2 Covered ABBA’s “S.O.S.”

Recently, Bono and The Edge of U2, covered ABBA’s classic track, “S.O.S.” during BBC Radio 2’s “Piano Room.” During their performance along with BBC Concert Orchestra at the BBC Maida Vale studio, they also performed their track “Vertigo.”

During an interview on BBC Sounds the Edge stated, “We’re big fans of this Scandinavian band, appreciators of their work in a way that grew over years. We are fans of the Bee Gees which people wouldn’t have imagined. We’re fans of lots of great songwriters who aren’t necessarily seen as very hip, and I guess we’re just appreciators of their work.”

Bono added, “I’ll tell you what, they’re just better songs, You can’t be empirical about everything in art, but sometimes songs are just better.”

Meanwhile, Songs of Surrender, a companion album to Bono’s memoir “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” was released on Friday, March 17th and includes 40 reimagined songs from their catalog.

Songs of Surrender was produced by The Edge. The album celebrates their 40 plus year career and revists tracks such as “With Or Without You,” “One,” “Beautiful Day,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Invisible.”
