Nike is getting its classic Air Force 1 sneaker ready for Halloween, but best of all, fans won’t have to wait long to pick up the spooky season-themed style.
As WWD reports, set for a Sept. 20 release is a new Halloween-themed Nike Air Force 1 Low set to release exclusively in kids sizing. While not quite as ornate as some of Nike’s other Halloween offerings, including mummy-wrapped and glow-in-the-dark sneakers, the upcoming Air Force 1 Low manages to pack in plenty of bloodcurdling details.
Said to be inspired by wolves, the upcoming release features a black tumbled leather upper and uses the Air Force 1’s quarter panel as a canvas with crudely drawn teeth surrounding the Swoosh in Metallic Silver on both the lateral and medial sides. The lateral section adds a stitched emblem of menacing red eyes, while the tongue’s Nike branding also gets an appropriately stylized treatment. Elsewhere, the sneaker’s fang graphic also appears on the insole.
Unfortunately for sneaker fans with large feet, it doesn’t look like this upcoming Air Force 1 will be available beyond big kids’ sizing. It will be released Sept. 20 for a retail price of $100 from nike.com and select Nike Sportswear retailers. The sneaker’s full colorway is Black/University Red/Metallic Silver/Black, and its style code is IQ2241-001.
But wait, there is something on the way for adults. As Footwear News reports, the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Scream” will release around Halloween as a clear homage to Ghostface. Its white leather upper is hit with black scuffs primarily around its stitching, and jagged cutouts on the Swoosh make it appear like it’s confronted the horror villain’s hunting blade. A red Swoosh is then carved into the heel, and additional pops of the color come via the top row of eyelets, eyestay Swoosh, and lace tips. Serving as the clearest connection is a special tongue tag with text replicating that of the “Scream” posters, and a metal lace dubrae is shaped like an old cordless phone.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Scream” doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date but will likely drop at some point in October.
Other noteworthy Halloween sneakers on the horizon from Nike, Inc. include Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 4, Devin Booker’s Nike Book 2, mummy-themed Foamposites and an Air Jordan 5 Retro with glow-in-the-dark detailing.
