Costco Is Opening New Stores Across The U.S.

Interior Costco with shoppers

It feels like every week, another beloved grocery chain announces expansion plans. Trader Joe’s recently revealed a slew of new locations across the country, and now as Delish reports, Costco shoppers are in for some good news of their own. If you’ve been hoping the warehouse giant would finally open a location closer to home, your wish might be coming true.

So now your biggest question is probably, “is one opening near me?” Well, according to the retailer, new warehouses are slated to open in California, Utah, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Georgia, Missouri, Texas, and Taiwan over the next few months.

Here’s where new Costco locations will be popping up:

  • Syracuse, Utah (June)
  • Pensacola, Florida (June)
  • South Kaohsiung, Taiwan (July)
  • Albany, New York (August)
  • Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (August)
  • Otsego, Minnesota (August)
  • Mansfield, Texas (August)
  • Celina, Texas (August)
  • Stone Mountain, Georgia (August)
  • Lee’s Summit, Missouri (August)

The expansion is part of Costco’s broader growth strategy. During recent earnings discussions, company executives said Costco plans to continue opening roughly 30 new warehouses each year, with 26 locations expected to open during the current fiscal year.

For shoppers, that means shorter drives to stock up on Kirkland Signature favorites, the iconic $1.50 hot dog combo, and, of course, the bakery section that somehow convinces us we need a four-pound cheesecake every single visit.

If your city didn’t make this latest list, don’t panic just yet. Costco typically announces new warehouse openings as construction progresses, so additional locations could be revealed in the coming months. You can check the retailer’s “New Locations” page as several upcoming warehouse openings continue to be scheduled throughout the summer, adding stores across the globe.

Between Costco’s continued expansion and Trader Joe’s steady rollout of new stores, grocery shopping is having a surprisingly big year. And with prices and inflation continuing to rise, these consumer-friendly retail expansions couldn’t come at a better time.
