Angelina Jolie Urges Brad Pitt to Drop Winery Lawsuit for the Sake of Family

Angelina Jolie’s attorney has issued a public appeal for Brad Pitt to end their ongoing legal battle over Château Miraval, a French winery the former couple once co-owned. Pitt sued Jolie after she sold her share of the estate for $67 million in October 2021, claiming the sale violated a verbal agreement between them. Jolie’s camp counters that she refused to let Pitt buy her out because he wanted her to sign an extensive non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

In the latest twist, Jolie has formally requested that Pitt disclose communications he had following a 2016 plane incident that precipitated their divorce. Pitt’s lawyers argue that this request is intrusive and irrelevant to the business dispute, branding it a “sensationalist fishing expedition.”

Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, contends that Pitt’s previous offer to buy Jolie’s stake in the winery included demands for an expanded NDA to cover his alleged personal misconduct. Murphy states, “We are not at all surprised Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over the documents demonstrating these facts.” He further urges Pitt to “end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing.”

Pitt’s legal team recently filed a motion calling Jolie’s request for communications “sensitive” and involving his “most trusted advisors.” They accuse Jolie of trying to re-litigate their divorce under the guise of a business dispute.

A judge ruled in May that Jolie must produce eight years’ worth of NDAs she has signed. Pitt’s side believes this will show that such agreements are a standard business practice. However, Murphy claims this ruling opens the door to examine Pitt’s alleged abuses and insists they are ready for full transparency.

A source close to Pitt maintains that the judge’s ruling undermines Jolie’s claims and challenges her to provide substantive evidence. As the legal battle continues, Jolie’s latest call for resolution highlights the ongoing complexity and emotional toll of their high-profile split.
