Chris Rock’s mother, Rose Rock, recently shared some strong words for Will Smith.
“When Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me,” the motivational speaker and author said. “Because when you hurt my child, you hurt me.”
This was the first time Rose Rock has publically addressed the incident.
“You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye, and you went up, and you made her day because she was bowled over laughing when it happened,” she said.
She went on to express how proud she was of her son for reacting the way that he did, and she further condemned Smith for taking the moment away from Questlove as he was presented the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature for his film Summer of Soul.
“I feel really bad that he never apologized,” Rock’s mother revealed, pointing to the fact that Smith apparently never personally reached out to Chris to apologize. “I mean his people wrote up a piece saying I apologize to Chris Rock, but you see something like that is personal, you reach out.”
