ZZ Top is still recording and touring, and news that their latest LP ‘Cinco No. 2: The Second Five LPs”, will be delivered June 1st. The collectable box set includes the albums “Deguello,” “El Loco,” “Eliminator,” “Afterburner,” and “Recycler.”
ZZ Top’s original line-up consisted of Billy Gibbons, keyboardist Lanier Greig (who died in February 2013) and drummer Dan Mitchell. Billy Gibbons is still with the group, but the lineup is now Billy, Frank Beard, and Dusty Hill. The band began in the early 70s in Houston, TX.
The band befriended Jimi Hendrix in the early days. The pink Stratocaster you see Billy play was a gift of appreciation from Jimi as a sign of respect for his talent. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and has earned 11 gold records and seven platinum records.
