Zendaya is Luis Vuitton’s new House Ambassador

No matter the event, if Zendaya is there, the actress is always on everyone’s top ten fashion list. Now, it feels safe to predict a lot of those top ten looks will be Louis Vuitton.  Last week, the French luxury brand revealed the multi-hyphenate creative as its latest house ambassador alongside her first campaign, in which she models the iconic Capucines bag

As Fashionista reports, this news didn’t exactly come out of left field. The star was spotted in the front row at the most recent Louis Vuitton womenswear show in Paris, prompting speculation as to whether their relationship might become official. Previously, Zendaya has starred in campaigns for Bulgari and Valentino; she became a face of the latter in 2020, most recently starring in last year’s PP Pink ads.

Photographed by Mert and Marcus and styled by Law Roach (who recently announced his departure from styling in favor of other roles in fashion), the new campaign features Zendaya in series of looks: There’s a one-shoulder, black dress with an oversized clasp on the strap and a matching oversized zipper on the side. In another, she power poses in a black jumpsuit with an onyx Capucines bag and hair flowing in the wind. There’s also a white tank top moment in the Southern France-inspired setting.

“I remember growing up around LV campaigns,” Zendaya told Vogue. “There was this one that I loved from the early 2000s of Naomi Campbell, and she’s like sprawled out over a trunk. I can still see it.”

The Capucines bag debuted in 2013 and is named after Rue Neuve-des-Capucines, a street in Paris where Louis Vuitton opened its first shop in 1854. It’s a classy top-handle that doubles as a crossbody, with a flap that can either flaunt the Louis Vuitton logo or only show the monogram flower in a display of quiet luxury. However, Zendaya doesn’t plan to be too precious with it.

“It’s really beautifully made and durable,” Zendaya also told Vogue. “If I buy something I want it to really last me. I’m not always the most responsible bag owner, so I might be throwing it around, it might get some real wear in it, you know, because I want to really use it, and it feels so sturdy.”
