Zac Efron was hospitalized on Friday night following a “minor swimming incident” in Spain, as confirmed by his representative to TMZ on Saturday.
The 36-year-old “High School Musical” actor was discovered in the pool of a villa in Ibiza by two workers who pulled him out of the water. It’s still unclear whether Efron experienced a medical emergency or was in danger of drowning.
Specific details about the incident have not been disclosed. However, Efron’s representative assured TMZ that the hospital visit was merely a “precautionary measure.”
Page Six has reached out to Efron’s publicists for further comment but has yet to receive a response.
Efron was reportedly discharged from the hospital on Saturday morning and is now doing “fine.” He has not yet mentioned the incident on social media.
Efron was in Spain while already in Europe for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He attended the opening ceremony of the Games on July 26 and shared a photo of himself by the Seine River.
The “Greatest Showman” star also has a well-known friendship with Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. Following Team USA’s gold medal win in the gymnastics team final earlier this week, Efron sent Biles a heartfelt shoutout on social media.
