The 2017 college football regular season and an Army vs Navy game from being complete and the bowl games have been announced. Now, the Heisman Trophy finalists have been announced, essentially capping off this season and honoring three amazing players for what they’ve done this year.
The three finalists for this one are Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson and Bryce Love. All three are well-deserving but the favorite for this has to be Baker Mayfield. He’s produced plenty of storylines not because of his play on the field but that doesn’t change his talent. He has thrown 41 touchdown passes for just five interceptions while adding 310 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns to his resume.
Lamar Jackson was last year’s Heisman trophy winner and has almost produced almost as great of a season. This year he has thrown for 25 passing touchdowns while adding 17 more on the ground. He also added over 1,400 rushing yards on the ground as well.
Finally, the lone running back of the group, Bryce Love, had one heck of a season. If it wasn’t for him missing the Oregon State game, he would have rushed for over 2,000 yards. Instead, he rushed for 1,973 yards (8.3 yards per carry) and 17 rushing touchdowns. He was mighty impressive this season.
Those are your Heisman trophy candidates! We say congratulations to them on a wonderful season and we look forward to seeing who takes home the award.
