Wynonna Judd, the country music star, has an exciting celebration planned to commemorate her 40th anniversary of performing live. On Monday, July 8, the 60-year-old singer announced her return to The Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas this December for a trio of Greatest Hits shows.
“Sometimes I feel like you just need to throw a big party for yourself!” Wynonna shared in a statement. “This is a milestone year for me.” She began her career in 1984 as one-half of the legendary mother-daughter duo, The Judds. “Mom and I played our very first show in 1984, which means I’ve been performing live for 40 years. That’s more than half of my life!”
The upcoming shows are scheduled for Dec. 11, 13, and 14 at 8:30 p.m., with tickets going on sale on Friday, July 12, at 10 a.m. PT. Wynonna’s last performance at The Venetian Theatre was in 2015 during The Judds – Girls Night Out residency with her mother, Naomi Judd.
Naomi Judd, a renowned country legend, passed away by suicide in April 2022 at the age of 76. “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy,” Wynonna and her sister, Ashley Judd, said in a statement. “We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered.”
Reflecting on her mother’s death, Wynonna recently shared her thoughts before performing the national anthem at the Kentucky Derby in May. “I feel her, and I miss her terribly,” she said. “It’s the ‘best and the worst of times’ kind of thing.”
This year, Wynonna also marked her 60th birthday in May by recreating a childhood photo of herself on Instagram, dressed up in a velvet chair with bright red pumps and a cigarette in hand. She captioned the post, “SIXTY. 👠💄✨.”
The Greatest Hits celebration is a chance for fans to join Wynonna in honoring her illustrious career. “My hope is that everyone will get to hear their favorite song,” she said. “How many hits can we fit into one show? Let’s find out!!!!”
