Wolves’ Anthony Edwards cited for assault after Game 5 loss

Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards was cited for misdemeanor assault on Tuesday following an altercation with a fan after the team’s loss to the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The incident occurred outside of the arena, and Edwards has since apologized for his behavior.

The Timberwolves organization has also released a statement regarding the incident, stating that they are taking the matter seriously and are cooperating with the authorities. The NBA has not yet commented on the situation.

This is not the first time that Edwards has made headlines for off-court incidents. Earlier this season, he was fined $25,000 for criticizing the referees in a post-game interview. However, Edwards has also been praised for his on-court performances, including winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

The incident is a reminder of the potential dangers of fan interactions at sporting events and highlights the need for increased security measures to protect players and fans alike.
