Willie Nelson, 92, Quits Smoking Weed but Still Stays High on Life (and Edibles)

It turns out even the most legendary stoner has his limits. At 92, country music icon Willie Nelson has revealed he’s officially hung up the joint—but that doesn’t mean he’s sworn off cannabis.

In a new interview with Forbes, Nelson shared that he’s stopped smoking weed due to concerns from his lungs. “They’ve already said, ‘Don’t do that,’” he explained. Instead, Nelson now prefers edibles and has launched a new THC-infused drink, Willie’s Remedy. “It’s good, people like it,” he said of the mellow alternative to lighting up.

The music legend, whose weed tales are the stuff of folklore—from blazing with Snoop Dogg in Amsterdam to lighting up on the White House roof—says he’s all about spreading good vibes now. With a new album Oh What a Beautiful World, Nelson hopes to bring people together, regardless of politics or background, united by music.

What keeps him going? “Playing music,” Nelson said simply. “There’s a great energy exchange with an audience. That’s what keeps me alive.”

Willie may be done smoking, but his love for cannabis—and community—is still burning bright.
