At the first star ceremony of the year on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrated actor Willem Dafoe was honored with a star on Los Angeles’ Hollywood Boulevard, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. During this memorable event, Dafoe took the opportunity to express heartfelt gratitude to his wife, filmmaker and musician Giada Colagrande, acknowledging her unwavering support throughout his journey.
Addressing an audience at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine St., the 68-year-old “Spider-Man” actor highlighted the pivotal role Colagrande has played in his life. Married since 2005, Dafoe credited his wife for teaching him gratitude and reminding him to cherish his good fortune. “Thank you to my wife Giada Colagrande, who teaches me gratitude and reminds me not to spit on my luck,” Dafoe shared in his speech.
The ceremony attracted several of Dafoe’s famous friends, including Patricia Arquette, Pedro Pascal, Mark Ruffalo, Camila Morrone, and Guillermo Del Toro. Reflecting on his extensive and successful acting career, Dafoe spoke about the joy of being part of the artistic community, emphasizing the role of artists and entertainers in fostering connection and dialogue in an increasingly divided world.
Dafoe and Colagrande’s relationship began in a serendipitous meeting on the streets of Rome in 2004. Their spontaneous and romantic wedding in 2005, described by Dafoe as “very impulsive,” was a testament to their deep connection. The couple, who have collaborated on the 2016 film “Padre,” do not have children together; Dafoe has an adult son from a previous relationship.
Dafoe’s recent performance in “Poor Things,” which clinched the 2024 Golden Globe for Best Picture in a Musical or Comedy, adds to his already impressive career. As the 2,768th entertainment industry figure to receive a star on the Walk of Fame, Dafoe’s recognition is not just a personal achievement but a celebration of his contributions to the world of cinema, supported and enriched by his partnership with Colagrande.
