On March 10, 2025, former talk show host Wendy Williams was transported from her assisted living facility in Midtown Manhattan to Mount Sinai West Hospital after a wellness check conducted by the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Authorities responded to the facility after reports that Williams, 60, had dropped a note from her fifth-floor window reading, “Help! Wendy!!” Upon arrival, NYPD officers escorted her to an ambulance, which transported her to the hospital for evaluation.
Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship since 2022 due to concerns about her health and finances. In February 2024, she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She has publicly contested the guardianship, asserting that she is not cognitively impaired and describing her living situation as restrictive.
In January 2025, Williams expressed feelings of isolation and dissatisfaction with her living conditions, referring to the facility as a “luxury prison.” She has also claimed that she is unaware of the medications administered to her and has not seen a doctor in several months.
Williams is actively seeking to terminate the guardianship, alleging that it infringes upon her personal freedoms. Her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has requested a new medical evaluation following Williams’ public statements challenging her diagnosis.
As of now, Williams remains hospitalized for evaluation, with no further updates on her condition. The situation has raised concerns among fans and the public regarding her well-being and the complexities surrounding her legal and health battles.
