If you’re a ’90s kid who wants to bring adult self back to your childhood, the new Warheads Hard Seltzer is the drink for you.
Warhead’s parent company Impact Confections worked in collaboration with Artisanal Brew Works, a brewery based in Saratoga Springs, NY, to make five different mouth-puckering flavors. There are black cherry, lemon, blue raspberry, green apple, and watermelon cans all with colorful packaging reminiscent of the candy itself. According to the brewery, “they’re sweet, they’re slightly tart, and they’re unlike any hard seltzer you’ve had before.”
Each one is five percent alcohol, gluten-free, and somewhat tricky to get your hands on. You can stop by the taproom in Saratoga Springs for a pack or a tasting, or if you don’t feel like jet setting to New York to taste seltzer, perhaps you can find a store they distribute to (currently in California, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York).
If you’re not a seltzer fan, but still want to relive those glory days, there’s still a beer for you. The brewery previously released a Warheads Sour Ale in lemon, green apple, black cherry, watermelon and blue raspberry. That release was so popular it’s now a part of their permanent lineup; they’re coming out with new combo flavors next month.
These new sour seltzers are not just an homage to Warheads, but meant to be “true to the candy,” the brewery told Food & Wine. So much so that they replicate “the point when the Warheads candy transitions from the sour phase to the flavor phase.”
