W Magazine has been rolling out its annual The Directors Issue, which is actually four issues, each spotlighting the year’s best talent both on screen and behind the scenes from this year.
Now in it’s fourth iteration, the 2022 Director Issues were launched with Pedro Almodóvar directing longtime muse (and star of “Parallel Mothers”) Penélope Cruz in “The Carmen Auditions.” Also featured are Paul Thomas Anderson directing Alana Haim in an “Homage to Society Ladies,” and Maggie Gyllenhaal directing herself in her vision of “Volent Femmes.”
The fourth and final cover features Hollywood’s “it girl” of the moment, Euphoria’s Emmy Award-winning, Zendaya, directed by three-time Academy Award-nominated director, Denis Villeneuve. Inspired by David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth and how to play with time, not space, Villeneuve asked Zendaya to portray a “Future Human” visitor from the future in an out-of-this-world photo production for his first Magazine cover shoot ever.
