Jordan Love’s much-anticipated return to the field Sunday brought optimism to Green Bay, but it wasn’t enough to stop the surging Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings jumped out to an early 28-0 lead at Lambeau Field and held on for a 31-29 win, improving to 4-0 under quarterback Sam Darnold and taking control of the NFC North.
Love, playing his first game since suffering a sprained MCL in Week 1, showed signs of rust. He threw two first-half interceptions, both leading to touchdowns as the Vikings built their commanding lead. The Packers, now 2-2, mounted a second-half rally, outscoring Minnesota 29-3, but a failed onside kick attempt in the final minute sealed their fate.
Vikings linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill intercepted Love in the first quarter, setting up a touchdown drive that stretched the lead to 21-0. Later, a high throw slipped through Luke Musgrave’s hands, bouncing into the arms of Shaq Griffin, leading to another Vikings touchdown.
Despite the rough start, Love led the Packers on a comeback, cutting the deficit to 28-22 in the fourth quarter. However, a late interception by Byron Murphy Jr. and a fumble ended Green Bay’s chances. Love finished with 389 yards, four touchdowns, and three costly interceptions.
The Vikings will aim to go 5-0 next week against the Jets in London, while the Packers look to rebound against the Rams.
