Vic Damone Passes at 89

Frank Sinatra, a legend 10 years his junior, once said this singer had the best pipes in the business. Frank was referring to crooner Vic Damone. Now those ‘best pipes in the business’ have gone to heaven, as singer Vic Damone has passed away in Miami at the age of 89.

Vic was among a handful of singers that chased the post WWII war blues away, Vic was discovered on the “Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts” show in 1947, appearing in film, and on radio and early television, eventually recording nearly 2,500 songs during his 50+ year career. Vic also wrote an autobiography called ‘Singing Was the Easy Part.’

Most fans don’t know that he was originally cast in the film ‘The Godfather,’ but turned down the part. Vic Damone has married five times, and is survived by four grown children and additional family members.
