The transfer over is scheduled to occur on August 2nd, 2024 for both Universities, the news comes just after Texas and Oklahoma announced they are leaving the Big 12 for the SEC instead sometime in 2025. On top of schools switching conferences, players are now permitted to receive image and likeness payments.  The Big Ten is also negotiating their next media rights deal , the existing deal they have with ESPN and Fox are valid through the 2022-23 year. The Pac-12 is struggling, with their last team to reach the College Football Playoff being Washington back in 2016. The Pac-12 desperately needs to make a move as the separation between them and other conferences continues to grow.
