Paul McCartney has announced the release of his forthcoming book, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, set to hit shelves on November 4, 2025. This 528-page volume offers an in-depth chronicle of Wings, the band McCartney formed post-Beatles, highlighting their journey from inception to their rise in the music world.
The book delves into the formation of Wings in 1971, featuring members such as Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, and Denny Seiwell. Structured around the band’s nine albums, including the iconic Band on the Run, it provides readers with a comprehensive look at their evolution until their disbandment in 1981. McCartney enriches the narrative with personal memories and insights from interviews with former bandmates, family, and key figures from that era. The publication is further enhanced by 150 rare photographs, offering a visual journey through the band’s history.
Reflecting on the project, McCartney shared, “I’m so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book.” He candidly discusses the challenges of starting anew after the Beatles, the doubts faced, and the eventual triumphs as Wings garnered acclaim and filled arenas worldwide.
This announcement follows the recent 50th-anniversary reissue of Band on the Run and the release of the live studio album One Hand Clapping, underscoring a renewed interest in McCartney’s work during the Wings era. Fans and music enthusiasts alike can anticipate a rich, behind-the-scenes exploration of a pivotal period in McCartney’s illustrious career.
