UNIQLO’s +J Collaboration With Jil Sander Is Coming Back

UNIQLO has announced plans to revive its collaboration with legendary German designer Jil Sander. Dubbed +J, the line is a project with the designer rather than her namesake label, which was previously owned by Prada and is currently independent (outside of Japan, where it’s licensed by Onward Holdings) and co-directed by Luke and Lucie Meier.

The resurrection of +J comes 11 years after Sander and UNIQLO first worked together. The new collection is due to release in Fall 2020, and will feature both men’s and women’s styles that build on Sander’s legacy for minimalism and refined understatement.

Announcing the launch of the collection — which will be unveiled in the near future — Sander told UNIQLO’s Life Wear magazine about the influences behind the collection, “I do not work with visions or muses, neither with a mood board only. My creativity relies on the fitting and experimenting with fabrics. I exclude and at the same time push in certain directions. As I said, my eyes are fine-tuned to the emerging shape.”
