In the latest teaser for Hulu’s upcoming docuseries, RapCaviar Presents, Tyler, The Creator remembers how he was inspired by Pharrell Williams to take music seriously. The RapCaviar Presents will premiere on March 30th and will include seven episodes. it will contain conversations with the genre’s emerging and chart topping artists such as City Girls, Jack Harlow, Polo G, Roddy Ricch, Coi Leray and more.
Tyler recalled meeting with his idol in studio during his Cherry Bomb European Tour in 2015. He stated, “I didn’t have a father. I didn’t have a big brother. I didn’t have a big cousin, So as a kid since 10/11, Pharrell is who I looked at. So through that we just developed like, a friendship where he would ask me advice on certain things, And Tyler was talking about where he was and feeling low. He wants that respect. So it’s this European tour we’re doing, Pharrell’s there. He goes to the next city, I go to the next city. We go to the studio and I’m in there and he’s like looking up to me like, ‘You got it na! You just don’t see it. Na you got it! You got the sh_t! You know what Jimmy Iovine told me?'”
Pharrel the proceeded to give Tyler advice that changed his life entirely, stating, “Make something undeniable and make it equally as infectious, Why are you doing music? Is it just because you just want to look cool? ‘Cause that will burn out. When it becomes purpose-oriented, it can be as cool as the flashy sh-t but it will be much more meaningful.”
