A decade-long narrative arc is coming to a close. Twenty One Pilots have officially announced their seventh studio album, Breach, set for release in September. The duo—Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun—revealed the news via social media on May 21, nearly one year after dropping Clancy, teasing fans with a cryptic message: “Hello Clancy. Hello Blurryface. Let’s finish this.”
This marks the culmination of a conceptual journey that began with their breakout 2015 album Blurryface, continued through Trench (2018), Scaled and Icy (2021), and most recently, Clancy (2024). The upcoming lead single, “The Contract,” is set to arrive on June 12.
The announcement follows the conclusion of their Clancy World Tour, which wrapped in the U.K. earlier this month. That tour ended with a headline-grabbing moment in Manchester when a fan stole one of Dun’s drums mid-show—a saga that quickly went viral and ended with the drum’s safe return, thanks to some digital detective work by fans.
From their humble beginnings in Ohio to global arena tours and conceptual storytelling, Breach promises to be a dramatic and emotional bookend to one of alternative pop’s most ambitious musical universes.
