Trixie Mattel is one very booked-and-busy queen — and she’s about to be booking rooms at her very own motel, too. The Drag Race All Stars winner will be hammering nails instead of painting them because she — along with her boyfriend, David — will be renovating a motel in the Palm Springs desert. Trixie tweeted out the news last week, describing the space as “the glossiest drag motel of your wildest fever-dreams.”
As if that weren’t enough to send your wig flying back, you will get to watch Trixie and her drag friends makeover the motel in the new Discovery+ renovation series, Trixie Motel. According to the streamer, Trixie Motel will consist of eight hour-long episodes featuring Trixie, David, and their team as they give a rundown motel a complete renovation with “seven uniquely themed motel rooms,” creating “the ultimate drag paradise.”
In other words, she’s about to put the “flop” in Flip or Flop. “Trixie is an entertaining performer, but most people don’t associate her with renovation,” said HGTV president Jane Latman. “We know Trixie will create a fantasy-filled motel makeover with grit, wigs, and fun. It’ll be a series unlike any we’ve seen.”
Trixie Motel is just the latest project from the super-busy queen. Trixie already co-hosts UNHhhh and The Bald and the Beautiful with her partner-in-crime, Katya. She also recently released a new EP of cover songs, hosted the latest season of The Pit Stop, and became the co-owner of her hometown gay bar, This Is It, in Milwaukee. Not to mention she’s the makeup maven behind Trixie Cosmetics.
Trixie Motel is slated to premiere this Summer on HGTV and Discovery+. In the meantime, we just have one question: Will Trixie’s motel offer a nightly tuck-down service? “I can’t wait to give this run-down motel the facelift it so desperately needs,” Trixie said in a statement. Here’s hoping she gets a visit from fellow Palm Springs residents Bianca Del Rio and Ross Mathews!
