The tradition continues with the National Memorial Day Concert that aired on PBS Sunday, May 24, 2020, at 8pm ET/7 CT, as well as to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network. The show streamed on Facebook, YouTube and www.pbs.org/national-memorial-day-concert and is available as Video on Demand, May 24 to June 7, 2020.
Hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, the 31st edition featured performances and appearances by General Colin Powell, Cynthia Erivo, RenĂ©e Fleming, Sam Elliott, Laurence Fishburne, Trace Adkins, Mary McCormack, Esai Morales, CeCe Winans, Kelli O’Hara and members of the National Symphony Orchestra with a poignant performance of the national anthem by Christopher Jackson and a special message from General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In addition, there will be a tribute to our American heroes on the front lines of the pandemic crisis.
Also participating in new and some past selected performances were members from The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, The U.S. Army Chorus, The U.S. Army Voices and Downrange, The Soldiers’ Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band, The U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, The U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants, and Service Color Teams provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C.
