Chicago slam metal band Torture, known for their chaotic live shows and viral performances, has been forced to cancel their current tour following the sudden departure of all its touring members. The band, which started out as the solo project of singer/drummer K.K., recently gained traction for their energetic live sets, including a notable performance at this summer’s Sound & Fury Festival that set social media on fire. However, the band’s momentum has been halted, at least temporarily, as K.K. now finds himself looking for new members to keep Torture moving forward.
Sudden Departure of Band Members
As reported by Brooklyn Vegan, K.K. announced the news on Torture’s Instagram, explaining that his touring members, who were also teenage friends and collaborators from previous projects, had to step away from the band due to various personal reasons. While the specifics behind the departures remain unclear, K.K. expressed nothing but support and understanding for his bandmates, saying, “I love them so much, and sincerely hope their decision results in the bettering of their lives + well-being.”
Despite the disappointing news, K.K. made it clear that this is not the end for Torture. The band had been on tour with Undeath, Rochester’s rising death metal heroes, but the departure has forced the cancellation of the remaining dates. K.K. acknowledged the frustration of having to call off the tour but reassured fans that Torture is not done.
K.K. Vows to Keep Torture Going
In his Instagram message, K.K. remained optimistic about the band’s future and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing Torture, no matter the setback. “This is not the end, I WILL continue no matter what,” he wrote. “It’s extremely disappointing to have to cancel this month’s dates, but we will hopefully be back next month.”
The band’s upcoming plans include a series of Midwest and East Coast shows with UK heavy hardcore act Splitknuckle. K.K. is currently looking for new members to fill the spots vacated by his former bandmates and hopes to return to the stage in time for those performances.
Fans Show Support
The announcement has understandably come as a shock to Torture’s growing fanbase, many of whom were eager to see the band perform in the coming weeks. K.K. addressed his fans directly in the message, apologizing for the unexpected cancellations and thanking them for their unwavering support. “I’m so sorry to anyone who wanted to see us these upcoming weeks, this came as a shock to me as well. I love you all so much,” he said, ending the message on a determined note: “WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!”
Looking Ahead
Torture’s live performances have become the stuff of legend, regularly going viral for their ability to whip crowds into a frenzy. With their intense energy and no-holds-barred approach, they quickly became a band to watch in the underground metal scene. While the current lineup has dissolved, K.K.’s determination to keep Torture going indicates that fans haven’t seen the last of the band.
In the meantime, Torture’s followers are eagerly awaiting news on the new lineup and future tour dates. If K.K.’s passion and commitment are any indication, Torture is poised to make an even stronger comeback once new members are in place.
