Tom Cruise is flying high after Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning pulled off a franchise-best opening at the box office — and he’s not letting the moment pass without gratitude.
The eighth installment of the long-running action saga opened with a three-day haul of $63 million and $77 million through the four-day Memorial Day weekend, narrowly topping 2018’s Fallout. Globally, the film helped push the holiday box office to new heights alongside Disney’s massive Lilo & Stitch reboot.
Cruise took to social media to share a heartfelt thank-you letter, celebrating not just his film’s success but the collective power of cinema. “This weekend was one for the history books,” he wrote. “To every filmmaker, every crew member, and every audience member — thank you. We make these movies for you.”
With a staggering $400 million budget and a globe-spanning press tour that included a premiere at Cannes, Cruise is keeping quiet on whether this is his final ride as Ethan Hunt. “Let’s just enjoy this moment,” he said.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is now playing in theaters nationwide, proving Cruise’s star power — and this franchise — are far from slowing down.
