Hollywood heavyweight Tom Cruise has inked a new strategic partnership deal with Warner Bros Discovery, announced by the company’s CEO David Zaslav and Motion Picture Group’s co-chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy. This deal, effective this year, marks a significant collaboration in the entertainment industry.
The agreement with the star, whose films have grossed over $13 billion, will see Cruise develop and produce original and franchise theatrical titles, in which he will also star. This partnership includes Cruise setting up an office on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank, California. Cruise’s history with Warner Bros includes notable titles like “Edge of Tomorrow,” “The Last Samurai,” and “Risky Business.”
It’s important to note that this is not an exclusive arrangement. Cruise will continue his ongoing projects with other major studios, such as Paramount for “Mission: Impossible 8” and Universal for a $200 million movie to be shot in space, directed by Doug Liman.
De Luca and Abdy expressed their excitement about working with Cruise, a film industry legend. They highlighted their ambition to elevate Warner Bros to its historical prominence, citing Cruise’s return to the studio as a critical step in this direction.
Cruise, a three-time Oscar nominee, recently celebrated the success of “Top Gun: Maverick,” his highest-grossing film to date, and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.” With this new partnership, Cruise and Warner Bros Discovery are poised to create more cinematic magic, underscoring their shared commitment to the movie industry and theater experience.
