Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez are heading into animated territory together, reuniting for a new feature film that blends romance, comedy, and intergalactic adventure.
The pair will lead the voice cast of Not Alone, an upcoming animated release from Illumination. The project marks a significant first for Chalamet, who will make his debut as a voice actor in a major animated feature, while Gomez continues to expand her experience in the genre.
Set in a futuristic world where scientific innovation meets cosmic chaos, the story follows Joe, a reserved rocket mechanic who prefers a quiet life, and Fran, an ambitious astro-botanist working to launch the world’s first rocket powered by plant technology. Their professional partnership quickly develops into something more as they prepare for a historic mission.
Their plans take an unexpected turn when three runaway aliens appear, bringing a wave of disorder and excitement. The tiny extraterrestrial visitors are desperately trying to escape an overzealous space law officer and soon discover that Fran’s revolutionary rocket may be their only ticket home.
The film promises a mix of heartfelt character moments, offbeat humor, and family-friendly adventure. With its combination of romance, science fiction, and comedy, Not Alone appears designed to appeal to both younger audiences and longtime fans of its star-studded cast.
Joining Chalamet and Gomez are Brett Goldstein, Allison Janney, Lamorne Morris, Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou. The film is directed by Illumination veterans Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson, and Jonathan Del Val.
