Thursday offered many incredible games for baseball fans as the MLB continues to entertain.
The New York Mets shockingly upset the Philadelphia Phillies with an 8-7 victory. Technically, there are not many upsets in baseball, but the Phillies managed to give up seven runs in the 9th inning to the Mets who climbed back to win the game. The top of the Mets lineup helped New York out of the hole, as Brandon Nimmo, Starling Marte, and Fransisco Linder all had two RBIs each. The Mets appear to be one of the best teams in baseball by quite a big margin.
Last year’s AL MVP Shohei Ohtani pitched an incredible game on Thursday, as the Los Angeles Angels shut out the Boston Red Sox, 8-0. Not only did Ohtani hit two singles and knock-in one RBI, but he also struck out 11 Red Sox batters without walking a single one. Ohtani continues to make his case as the next, and more improved, Babe Ruth, as his combination of pitching and hitting becomes deadlier by the day. The Angels are rising up with a very talented team to accompany Ohtani.
Finally, the Cleveland Guardians had an impressive win over the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday with a 6-5 victory. Guardian rookie sensation Steven Kwan hit his first major league home run as he drove in two runs against the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays may have lost, but star hitter Vlad Guererro Jr. showcased his powerful batting once again as he went 1-2 with two RBIs. With the Chicago White Sox banged up with injuries, the Guardians have a real shot at winning the AL Central if they continue to play this well.
