Three of Our Favorite Background Vocalists You Know and Love

Have you ever wondered what other singers appear on your favorite songs? These vocal contributions are known as ‘background vocals,’ and often times are surprising.

Did you know that the song “The Wall” by Pink Floyd has the background vocals of (70s “Love Will Keep Us Together”) The Captain and Tennille, and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys?

“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” by Elton John employed the background voices of The Captain and Tennille, and Brian Wilson and Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys as well. In the 90s Wham’s George Michael did his own version of the song and brought out the original Elton John to finish the second half of the song.

“All You Need is Love” by the Beatles contains the background voices of popular Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Marianne Faithfull, and Keith Moon of The Who. How Keith got into that song is beyond us.
