Thom Yorke, renowned frontman of Radiohead and The Smile, has teamed up with British electronic musician Mark Pritchard to release their latest single, “Gangsters.” This track serves as the third preview of their forthcoming collaborative album, Tall Tales, which is scheduled for release on May 9 via Warp Records.
Accompanying the release is a visually striking music video directed by Jonathan Zawada, who has been described as an unofficial “third member” of the project. The video features surreal, marionette-like characters engaging in enigmatic activities within a plaza setting, adding a layer of intrigue to the song’s haunting melodies.
“Gangsters” follows the previously released singles “Back in the Game” and “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice,” both of which have garnered attention for their innovative soundscapes and thought-provoking visuals. The collaboration between Yorke and Pritchard began during the COVID-19 lockdowns, with the duo exchanging ideas and demos remotely, culminating in the creation of Tall Tales.
Fans can look forward to the full album release on May 9, with a feature-length film directed by Zawada set to premiere in select theaters on May 8, offering a comprehensive audiovisual experience that complements the album’s themes.
