Thom Browne Launches Eponymous Eyewear Line


Thom Browne’s eyewear is back. After terminating its licensee partnership and bringing the business back in-house, the American fashion label has revealed its own range of sunglasses and eyeglasses.

As Hypebeast reports, across the collection, the brand’s frames are built with special titanium that is one third of the weight of steel and more expensive to make than pure titanium. “Thin, light, durable and flexible, it makes each frame corrosion-resistant and hypoallergenic,” the label said.

Each eyewear piece within the collection is crafted in Japan with Japanese acetate, which takes three months to tumble and mix. Premium lenses, featuring 100% UVA and UVB protection, are tinted in brown, navy, dark grey, green, silver and gold, while four-bar stripes command hinges, nose pads and frames across the line. Notably, the range houses renovated takes on classic round, cat eye, square, aviator, brow-line and pantos frames.

Shot by legendary fashion photographer Bruno Staub, the line’s accompanying campaign sees models posing in the Seagram Building in New York—strolling through the plaza, sitting at desks, reading news and daydreaming—as part of the brand’s bid to reimagine the daily nine to five.

Thom Browne’s eyewear collection is now available to shop on the brand’s webstore and in select boutiques, with prices ranging from $540 to $2,790 USD.
