The Grammy’s always seem to be where artists push the limits of fashion (who can forget Lady Ga Ga’s meat dress?). But on this year’s red carpet, the question should have been not, “what are you wearing,” but, “what aren’t you wearing?”
Stars of the music industry wore (or didn’t – it’s a dress half there, half not, situation):
Dresses cut DOWN to there (Janelle Monae, Olivia Rodrigo, Kaitlen Howard, Fantasia Barrino, Niecy Nash, Lachi, Carly Pearce, Kaisha Blackstone, Samara Joy, Hayley Kalil).
Dresses cut UP to there (Taylor Swift, Coi Leray, Isabelle Lawley, Bella Harris, Lauren Daigle, Leah Talabi, Eryn Allen Kane, Annaleigh Ashford, Ve’ondre Mitchell, Molly Tuttle).
Dresses cut OUT in the middle (Gracie Abrams, Chloe Bailey, Grace Gummer, Paula Arenas, Bonnie McKee, Paris Jackson, Analisse Rodriguez).
Dresses cut out EVERYWHERE (Heidi Klum, Kendra G., Arya Starr, Dua Lipa, Pentatonix).
Second skin dresses (Kylie Minogue, Alessandra Ambrosio, Taylor Ayanna, Victoria Monet, Tessa Brooks).
Barely there (as in sheer, as in peak-a-boo, I see you) dresses (Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, Gina Alice, Claudia Sulewski, Charlotte Lawrence, Shuba, Montana Tucker). In this category, it would be remiss if there wasn’t a shout out to Doja Cat, whose filmy nude dress by Dilara Findikoglu left literally nothing to the imagination.
And yes, the men got in on the “less is more” trend, going sheer or shirtless (Lenny Kravitz, Mark Ronson, Landon Barker, Jake Pederson).
In fact, there was so much skin aglow in the spotlight, that a trend that stuck out were the female celebs going in the opposite direction, donning bold colors and prints amid layers of roomy, yet stylish menswear (Billie Eilish, Rebecca and Megal Lovell, Yolanda Adamas, Sarah Tudzin, Brandi Carlile, Alex Ritchie, Boygenius, Montaigne).
