1955 – Elvis Presley was interviewed by Jimmy Dean on Jimmy’s television show.

1956 – The movie “Rock Around the Clock” (with Bill Haley) made its premiere in Washington, DC.

1958 – Perry Como’s “Catch A Falling Star” was certified as the first gold single.

1960 – Sam Cooke began his first tour of the West Indies.

1963 – Gerry & the Pacemakers released their first British single, “How Do You Do It.”

1963 – Gerry Marsden (Gerry & the Pacemakers) was fined 60 pounds for evading British customs with a German guitar.

1965 – Petula Clark made her American TV debut on CBS’ “Ed Sullivan Show.”

1977 – The Heart album “Little Queen” was released. It contained the song “Barracuda.”

1980 – Quincy Jones got a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
