The world of Oz is ready for its next flight.

Director Jon M. Chu is giving fans of Wicked something extra in the upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good. In candid remarks, he reveals that after wrapping the first cut, he revisited the film in early 2025 and made a series of strategic adjustments — new songs, deeper arcs, emotional rewrites — all to elevate what the 2024 film established.

Stars Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (Glinda) return, and the upgraded sequel leans harder into their characters’ evolution: Glinda’s journey from bubbly sorority‑girl to bona fide Glinda‑the‑Good now has more context; Elphaba’s transformation is paired with a revised emotional core and the addition of fresh song lyrics. Meanwhile, a surprise voice cameo (identity still under wraps) adds a playful twist for fans hunting Easter eggs.

Originally shot alongside its predecessor, the film paused, resumed, and then underwent thoughtful edits — underscoring Chu’s commitment to not just deliver more, but better. With its release set for November 21, 2025, the bar is high — but based on the creative recalibration, it looks like Wicked: For Good is aiming to soar.
