If you grew up in the 60s and 70s, you clearly know all about the Motown Sound. Do you also know about the Muscle Shoals sound? Would you recognize Johnny Bristol or the Want Ads if you heard them on the radio? Let’s spend more time today honoring the wonderful soul of popular music..

What would you say if we told you none of the members from the famous soul group the ‘Ohio Players’ were actually from Ohio? Okay, they were all from Dayton, Ohio. They began as the ‘Ohio Untouchables’ with regional success until their smash “Fire” in 1974. “Sweet Sticky Thing” and “Love Rollercoaster” proved to be even bigger tunes for this five-man band. Of the 16 studio albums released, two went Gold while three hit Platinum. four of the original members have passed on, leaving Marshall Jones as the lone surviving Ohio player.
