You know that Florida is the Sunshine State, the land of beautiful people, lots of oranges, and plenty of warm nights by the coast. Florida is also the home of some of the most influential band, artists, and sounds of all time.
The Southern Rock sound was served quite well by Florida natives Lynyrd Skynyrd from Jacksonville, the late Tom Petty from the campus of the University of Florida, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, and The Outlaws are from Tampa.
The 60s and early 70s Soul Sound was served well by The Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose “Too Late to Turn Back Now.”
And of course, boy bands were powerful from the O Town area, including the Back Street Boys and N’Sync.
The Miami Sound Machine from the 80s and 90s were creating their own dance sound, as was KC and the Sunshine Band.
The popular Christian band Creed, Blackfoot, and the Door’s Jim Morrison were all from the Sunshine state.
