The Problem Solver of the Race Award has Returnd to Nascar

MOOG®, the “Official Steering and Suspension Partner of NASCAR®,” announced that the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™ ‘Problem Solver of the Race’ Award will be presented following each race to the crew chief whose car posts the largest increase in average lap speed from the first half to the second half of the race while finishing on the lead lap. Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019, this will be the 54th consecutive year that the MOOG brand has been involved in NASCAR. To acknowledge this milestone, all cars will feature a limited-edition MOOG 100 decal.

At the end of the 2019 season, MOOG will present a $100,000 award to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series crew chief with the most weekly wins throughout the 36-race schedule at the NMPA Myers Brothers awards ceremony. In 2018, Adam Stevens, crew chief for Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing’s MOOG®-equipped #18 Toyota Camry, was a first-time winner of the 2018 MOOG “Go the Extra Mile” Crew Chief of the Year, once again known as the ‘Problem Solver of the Year’ Award.

In recognition of the vital importance of steering and suspension components in overall vehicle safety and performance, NASCAR mandates that every Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team use MOOG ball joints and tie rods. Since 1966, the MOOG brand has carried every Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion to victory.

“MOOG has had a long-term, successful relationship with NASCAR, as its exclusive provider of ball joints and tie rods. Crew chiefs know that MOOG parts help provide their drivers with optimum racing performance,” said Tim Nelson, director of motorsports. “MOOG parts have provided reliability and durability in harsh racing environments, under many adverse conditions, for over half the time the brand has been in existence.”
