Perhaps America is feeling blue about action packed thrillers, movies that are meant to keep us on the edge of our seats, as ‘The Predator’ a full metal jacket ‘shoot em up’ delivered the lowest opening weekend revenue number for a live-action film debuting in over 4,000 theaters in recent memory. The other films that broke the top 10 this past weekend were ‘The Nun’ ‘A Simple Favor’ ‘White Boy Rick’ ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ which continues to do well at the box office, pulling in $8 million plus, hitting the $150 million domestic number since it opened a few week ago.
The Jennifer Garner action film ‘Peppermint’ ‘The Meg’ ‘Searching’ ‘Unbroken: Path to Redemption’ ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ ($225 domestic thus far, $780 million internationally) and ‘Disney’s Christopher Robin’ finished strong at the box office.
