Expert real estate agents in Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks will hustle to find potential buyers a slice of waterfront paradise in the new HGTV series Lakefront Empire, premiering Monday, March 11 at 10|9c and available to stream the same day and time on Max.
Located between St. Louis and Kansas City and boasting more miles of shoreline than the California coast, the Lake of the Ozarks offers a wide range of properties at all price points that appeal to conservative and high-end buyers alike in its red-hot real estate market. “I don’t think people realize we have a Midwest coast,” says Peggy, a former convicted felon who is now one of the most successful agents at the lake. “In the Lake of the Ozarks, the market has exploded. There was over a billion dollars in sales last year.”
What is Lakefront Empire About?
According to HGTV, during the eight-episode season, some of the lake’s top agents — Peggy Albers, Gerardo Cornejo, brothers Jonas and Justin Farrell, Cierra Grein and Amanda Smith — offer clients both affordable and million-dollar luxury homes featuring premium water frontage; custom pools and hot tubs; and decked-out docks with boat slips, wet bars and slides. When it’s time to make an offer, the agents will use their negotiation skills to sell a piece of the “American Dream” to these families looking to live in the “Hamptons of the Midwest.”
“People can’t believe the price per square foot that they’re able to get for a lakefront home,” says Justin.
What to Expect From Lakefront Empire
In the series premiere, Peggy shows new clients three lavish lakefront listings in the popular areas of Linn Creek, Porto Cima and Sunrise Beach. As they walk through the first home, Peggy shares her redemption story with the couple.
Meanwhile, Jonas and Justin, brothers who now run the real estate agency founded by their parents, visit the North Shore and Camdenton to help local business owners snatch up their dream weekend cabin on the lake.
As the episodes continue, the agents encourage prospective homeowners to consider properties in other desirable Lake of the Ozarks communities, such as Four Seasons, Gravois Mills and Osage Beach. “We used to say that the Lake of the Ozarks was the country’s greatest kept secret,” says Jonas. “Now, the secret is out.”
