The Late Prince and Baseball Enter an Unusual Arrangement

News out of Minneapolis today is that the estate of the late artist Prince and the Minnesota Twins, the major league baseball club in that city, have come to terms on marketing details that will sell items that contain Prince’s favorite color purple, his “Love Symbol” shirts, hats, and more at Target Field. There will also be a ‘Prince Night’ June 8th. These items will be sold exclusively at Target Field.

Last year the team held a ‘Prince Night’ giving away purple umbrellas, so the club and Prince have already established a marketing relationship. This new agreement will allow the club to merchandise Price items on an ongoing basis. On this year’s Prince Night June 8th, the club intends to give away an inflatable shaped guitar to the first 10,000 that come through the turnstiles. There will also be a special remembrance during the 7th inning stretch during that June 8th game.

Prince died April 21st, 2016 due to an accidental drug overdose, and the music world has never been the same.
