The Hits That 1971 Gave to Us

How diverse was our popular music in 1971? We had to go back to check. The tunes we danced to in mid-1971 were pretty cool, even to this day…

1. “Joy To The World” – Three Dog Night
2. “Maggie May” – Rod Stewart
3. “It’s Too Late” – Carole King
4. “One Bad Apple” – Osmonds
5. “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart” – Bee Gees
6. “Indian Reservation” – Raiders
7. “Tired Of Being Alone” – Al Green
8. “Take Me Home, Country Roads” – John Denver
9. “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” – Temptations
10. “Smiling Faces Sometimes” – Undisputed Truth
11. “Me And Bobby Mcgee” – Janis Joplin
13. “Want Ads” – Honey Cone
15. “Treat Her Like A Lady” – Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose

Observations: Not a lot of rock and roll in 1971. Soul bands were on rise, Country was mainstream at the time, and we’re about to be taken for a ride by disco.
