Get Ready Bakers: The Great British Baking Show is being made into a Stage Musical

If you’re a fan of The Great British Baking Show (a.k.a. The Great British Bake Off in the U.K.), you’re gonna love this.  It’s being made into a stage musical!

Great British Bake Off:The Musical will open its world premiere at the Everyman Theatre over the pond in Cheltenham, UK, this summer. It’s set to be a comedy which follows eight amateur bakers who attempt to dazzle the judges with their culinary prowess. London-based musical theater writing partnership Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary have written the score for the production.

The production has been developed in association with the executive producer of the TV show Richard McKerrow, and Love Productions, the company that produces The Great British Bake Off. A synopsis of the musical bills the show as “a great big slice of musical heaven.”

“Follow the trials and tribulations of our bakers, all with their own stories to tell and as unique from one another as their marvellous baked creations,” the synopsis continues. “Find out who will triumph as Star Baker, and who will fall foul of a soggy bottom. Expect heartwarming characters, ounces of laughter and mouth watering music in this brand-new and original British musical, suitable for the whole family.”

Whether or not any of the real bakers or beloved judges like Prue Leith from the show will make an appearance is yet to be determined.

Great British Bake Off:The Musical opens at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham on July 22 and runs until Aug. 6. Tickets are available on the theater website.
