According to culvercityobserver.com, The Culver City Fire Department camp in California is taking place on Saturday and Sunday November 12th and 13th 2022 from 9-am- 4pm. The camp they held last year was a huge success and had a massive response from both the community and students alike from Culver City selling out the camp in only two days. In their previous year, the fire department hosted 35 girls ages 14-18, for a free two-day, hands on camp at their training facility on Jefferson. The goal of the CCFFD Girls’ Camp is to help introduce young adults, 14-18, to careers in public safety. The program allows for a hands on introduction to firefighting and Emergency Medical Services skills.
During the two day camp, attendees will learn how to wear personal protective equipment, climb ladders, pull fire hose, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and more. Each and every student will be supervised by firefighters in a safe and challenging environment to help the girls to build up their self-confidence. other camp activities will include, an Aerial ladder climb, AED/First Aid, forcible entry, Self-Contained breathing Apparatus, donning/doffing, an introduction to power tools, and an overview of fire extinguishers.
